A classic restoration of Boulle marquetry. This involved rehydrating the old glue by infiltration, crafting and gluing the missing brass pieces, and reconstructing the base, which was in poor condition but not beyond repair. The bronze pieces were cleaned and finished with a clear French polish.
This just goes to show that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Even a piece of furniture in a very poor state can regain its former beauty.
