Restoration of a games table with a hinged top veneered in burr mahogany, commonly known as Cuban mahogany. In fact, according to the recent book "L'essence du bois" by Patrick George, Emmanuel Maurin and Marie-Christine Troujy-Jaquemet, it seems more accurate to call this type of mahogany Saint Domingue mahogany.
The base is veneered in solid oak and the top in poplar. The moldings are solid mahogany. The table rests on tapered legs, ending in bronze sabots and casters, and it features a storage compartment under the tabletop.

The lower dovetail cross member is missing
The restoration involved repairing the various dents and veneer detachments, bracing the crack in the top against the backing, re-gluing the drawer bottom, creating a new squaring crossbar under the drawer, and straightening and rehydrating the top and its mahogany burl veneer. The top pivots and the drawer sliding mechanism were then readjusted to ensure proper operation of each.

I then re-varnished the entire table with colorless shellac, then I put back a wool cloth and its leather trim.
