This sewing box dates from the Napoleon III period. The frame is made of conifer. The veneer is composed of Rio rosewood, rosewood, mahogany for the interior and a net of boxwood and green-stained maple.
The great thing about this box is that the lid hasn't warped. This is often a major problem with this type of furniture, as people forget to lock them, causing the wood to warp. It then becomes very difficult to find a way to make the box close properly without having to do extensive repairs.
Restoration work: – Filling of missing veneers, cleaning of the surface, and re-varnishing with a colorless varnish.
