Restoration of a marquetry cartel clock in brown tortoiseshell on a black background and brass from the Napoleon III period.
Despite the dust, oxidation, and years spent deep in an attic, this small clock is in very good condition. Except for a small piece of missing brass on the right side of the capital, it is complete. The gilding is still clearly visible beneath the layer of grime, and the structure is in perfect condition. A simple restoration was therefore required: re-gluing all the marquetry under vacuum, followed by a light cleaning, a coat of clear French polish, and a cleaning of the bronze mounts. And there it is, as good as new.
