On the restoration side there was nothing extraordinary, the brass was re-glued with fish glue and by infiltration, then the stripping and varnishing.
The most difficult part of staining this type of furniture is black. Over time, pear wood darkens, loses its color, and turns gray. It then needs to be stained, without, of course, obscuring the brass. To do this, I fill and polish the piece until the brass becomes a true mirror.. Next, I apply a warm logwood stain followed by a coat of iron pyrolignite. I let it dry and, with a soft cloth, I rub the brass areas to bring them out from under the black. Finally, I seal the stain with varnish and then polish everything with clear French polish. It's a tedious process that can quickly become a real hassle if you try to rush it.
