Durant la p\u00e9riode tr\u00e8s mouvement\u00e9e de la r\u00e9volution fran\u00e7aise, la production de mobilier fut consid\u00e9rablement amoindrie et la plupart des artisans v\u00e9curent des p\u00e9riodes tr\u00e8s difficiles. Dans l’ensemble, du Consulat au Directoire, les meubles et les si\u00e8ges n’ont gu\u00e8re eu le temps d’\u00e9voluer. Toutefois, m\u00eame si certains motifs d\u00e9coratifs d’inspiration Egyptienne avaient d\u00e9j\u00e0 fait leur apparition, c’est \u00e0 partir de l’exp\u00e9dition d’Egypte (1798-1801) qu’ils \u00e9volu\u00e8rent vers un style unique. Le style dit \u00ab\u00a0Retour d’Egypte\u00a0\u00bb durera cependant que peu de temps : une dizaine d’ann\u00e9es tout au plus car il sera vite remplac\u00e9 par le style \u00ab\u00a0Empire\u00a0\u00bb impos\u00e9 par Napol\u00e9on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On retrouve sur cette commode tous les signes de ce style : elle est plaqu\u00e9e d’acajou et a un b\u00e2ti en ch\u00eane, les cariatides en gaine sont coiff\u00e9es d’un klaft, les poign\u00e9es sont en forme de t\u00eate de lion, les entr\u00e9es de serrure comportent des palmettes et les pieds sont en forme de patte de lion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A premi\u00e8re vue, cette commode est en bon \u00e9tat esth\u00e9tique, mais en r\u00e9alit\u00e9 plusieurs d\u00e9fauts structurels vont conduire \u00e0 une future d\u00e9gradation de l’aspect ext\u00e9rieur. C’est donc pour cela que son propri\u00e9taire a eu la clairvoyance de me la confier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En effet, ce n’est pas parce que le meuble n’a pas l’air d\u00e9grad\u00e9 qu’il ne l’est pas. A partir des photos suivantes je vais vous monter quels sont les d\u00e9fauts et les futurs probl\u00e8mes qu’ils peuvent entrainer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les panneaux ont r\u00e9tr\u00e9ci ou fendu, les assemblages sont d\u00e9coll\u00e9s et donc ne jouent plus leur r\u00f4le, ce qui va causer un gauchissement de l’ensemble des pi\u00e8ces du meuble et donc nuire \u00e0 son bon fonctionnement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Idem pour les fonds de tiroirs, ils n’assurent plus l’\u00e9querrage des tiroirs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les coulisses et les coulisseaux sont us\u00e9s par le temps et donc les tiroirs fonctionnent mal et sont abim\u00e9s. Ils risquent ainsi de causer l’arrachage du placage de fa\u00e7ade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pour rem\u00e9dier \u00e0 ces probl\u00e8mes, j’ai donc d\u00e9mont\u00e9 la commode par l’arri\u00e8re, recharg\u00e9 les coulisses et les coulisseaux ainsi que les tiroirs. J’ai recoll\u00e9 les panneaux de dessus et de dessous ainsi que l’arri\u00e8re.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Puis, j’ai recoll\u00e9 les assemblages structurels du meuble pour lui redonner sa solidit\u00e9 d’origine. Tout cela sans d\u00e9grader l’\u00e9tat de surface. Ensuite, j’ai simplement effectu\u00e9 un l\u00e9ger nettoyage du vernis et des bronzes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
